Chapter 128 :  Huyilu

” l was pressing the same Belur based devotee to share some more experiences from his life. He took to silence for some time. A little later he started narrating a few more mystic acts of Gurunatha.

My uncle whom I mentioned to you just before this had started coffee business along with a few of his friends. To start with the business was doing well and they made some good money. Not sure what happened after sometime their business started making losses. It came to a stage where they were finding it difficult to run the business further. The farmers who had given them coffee seeds started chasing them for payments and started pestering them at their shop and also their houses. Unable to bear the disrespect and humiliation our uncle committed suicide by drowning in the nearby lake. His family after losing the sole bread winner and the supporting pillar was now shattered. As if that was not enough, a coffee planter who had sold coffee seeds was to receive about 7 lakh rupees, started putting pressure on the family for immediate settlement. Not getting an assurance from the family about the payment he threatened that he will make a huyilu against them (A practice of invoking God’s justice by complaining about someone and paying a nominal donation to God at some known temple). My uncle’s financial problems were still far from being resolved.

On my aunt’s insistence I went to Sakharaya Patna along with her. We came to know Gurunatha was sitting near the Eashwara temple and went directly there. As soon as he saw us, he asked.. “You are from Sakaleshpura isn’t it?” We were surprised how Gurunatha was able to tell about us even before we opened our mouth. He got Jehangeer (a sweet dish) through one of his devotees and asked my aunt to distribute it to everyone who was sitting around. A few minutes later Gurunatha told my aunt..” There seems to be a Huyilu against you”, I reminded my aunt about the 7 lakh due and the threat the coffee planter had given us. Then she remembered about it and requested Gurunatha for a way to go around the problem. He suggested we should visit a devi temple on every Tuesday for at least 3 weeks.

After that our problems slowly started getting resolved on their own due to Gurunatha’s grace. Today ours and our aunt’s family are leading a peaceful life.
