Chapter 120 : Sweet
dish as a medicine for diabetes
The lady who was recounting her
experiences till now was silent for a few minutes and she started again with
even more enthusiasm.
After our daughter finished her 10th
standard we had enrolled her for higher education. We thought she needed more
training and wanted to enroll her in a tuition class. Gurunatha sent a word
through the boy from Sakharaya Patna that the girl did not require a private
tuition.
Still we stuck to our decision and
enrolled her to a tuition class. Probably because we ignored Guru’s words within
two days our daughter had measles and fever. Yet, we did not admit her to a
hospital. Coming to know about this through the boy Gurunatha sent a word that
we should wait till 2pm the next day. If she is not better by then a doctor may
be consulted. We agreed. By 2pm on the next day measles and fever and subsided.
This act of Gurunatha had every one of us surprised.
In another instance, when l was
going for a morning walk I lost balance and fell down and injured my leg. I
returned home with the help of my friends. Later we went to a hospital and
finished x-ray and other tests. The doctor assured me that everything was fine,
gave some medicines and sent me back.
I was finding it difficult to even
walk inside the house. I exhausted all medicines. However the pain did not subside.
Gurunatha sent a message that I should visit the Channa Keshava temple nearby
and I should regularly take some betel leaves and dates. I started walking
slowly to Channa Keshava temple which is about two kilometers from our house.
Slowly this became a routine and my pain disappeared on its own. Thanks to
Gurunatha’s grace I am quite healthy today.
At this point, the Principal
intervened.. “The one I am going to recount now must be one of my special experiences;
I have never had such an experience again”.
“I had never done a blood test
before, once I had diabetes and when I got the test done, it was confirmed”. Then
Gurunatha sent a word to my wife through the boy that she should make
holige/Poli (a sweet dish made out of coconut and jaggery) for me. My wife
applied her common sense that one suffering from diabetes should not be given
sweets and ignored Guru’s words.
Within a few days Gurunatha sent
another message. This time it was a question.. he had said.. ”Ask them which is
better, eating holige or tablets?”
This time my wife prepared holige
without any delay or second thoughts. I distributed them to a few of my
students who had come down and had some myself. She always used to prepare them
in huge number but somehow this time she had prepared only a few. The boy came
again with a message, this time he said, “Gurunatha wants two holiges which are
kept in a box on the kitchen shelf to be sent to him. I am leaving for
Sakharaya Patna tonight”. When we
looked inside surprisingly only two pieces were left as Gurunatha had said. With
great respect for Gurunatha we sent those two pieces of holige through that
boy.
When the boy arrived at Sakharaya
Patna with holige it seems Gurunatha called everyone around him telling he has
received a ‘Prasada’. He distributed it among those around him and had a small
piece himself.
“Surprisingly, from that day till
today there has not been any change in my blood sugar level though I am not
taking any tablets. All this is possible only by Guru’s grace”.
