Chapter 74 : Time is God

Gurunatha had not become known to the world at the time of this incident. Despite that a person who had been attracted towards him wanted to stay in his inner circle always. He was a Government servant by profession.

Once Gurunatha decided to attend a homa (a Hindu ritual of offering to lord Agni) at his sister’s house, he went to Rajajinagar in Bangalore along with this person. Gurunatha asked him to wait and went inside. Not wanting to miss his duty and apply a leave that person rode his bike and came to his office. A little later when Gurunatha came outside he saw that the person was missing. lmmediately Gurunatha went to his office and got him back. He smiled and said “no matter where you go, I will not leave you”. This shows Gurunatha’s unbiased love towards everyone.

In another instance the same person had come to Gurunatha’s residence. As was his practice Gurunatha visited the Eashwara temple and he took this person along. Just when they were to enter the temple Gurunatha pulled that person towards him pointing to where the person was about to step and said.. “See there.. an illusion(Maya), step aside”. The person saw a green snake and he was about to step on it had Gurunatha not alerted him.

Another time this person along with his brother left towards Sakharaya Patna. At the time of departure both brothers had different aspirations. While this person thought “I should definitely meet Gurunatha”, his brother thought it is enough if I pay a visit to Gurunatha’s residence. When they reached Sakharaya Patna, Gurunatha was not there. This person after having a meal took a stroll and walked towards the main road.

Suddenly he heard someone from behind saying... “Pull him inside..” a car came near him and the door opened. He saw Gurunatha inside and got into the car. A smiling Gurunatha told him.. “See, you came here thinking you should definitely meet me, whereas your brother thought it is enough if he visited my house, so each one of you was rewarded according to your wish, come let us go”.

In another instance, the same person on his way from Bangalore thought of having a tender coconut in Gurunatha’s farm. As soon as he reached Sakharaya Patna without saying a word, Gurunatha took him to his farm. When there he gave a shout..”ls anyone there? I want some tender coconuts to be brought down.” A stranger walked in from inside the farm saying he will get the tender coconuts. As per Gurunatha’s instructions he plucked some tender coconuts. Once he got down Gurunatha offered him a tender coconut, he hesitated first and then had it. Gurunatha and the devotee had tender coconuts. Gurunatha bowed to the help who plucked the tender coconuts and started back towards his house.

On his way back, Gurunatha asked the devotee from Bangalore,” what did you learn today?”. The devotee shook his head as he did not understand what Gurunatha was expecting. Gurunatha told him “See the farm belongs to you, so does the tree. But, it was someone else who plucked the tender coconuts for you isn’t it?” Then the real God is that person who plucked the tender coconuts for you when you were thirsty isn’t it?” These incidents remind us of some of Gurunatha’s words. He always used to say Time is God, it is Guru so leave everything to time and focus on your duties.

There is nothing impossible for a Guru. Guru is beyond time and he is beyond physical boundaries. He knows too well the cryptic secrets of this world of illusion.

Once a professor from Bangalore met with an accident and broke his legs. After being discharged from the hospital he was barely managing to walk with the help of a walking stick. Gurunatha came to know about this after a few days. He went to the professor’s house and met him. He asked the professor to drop the stick and walk towards him. The professor who could not even stand without the help of the stick walked towards Gurunatha without any help.

In another incident, an engineering student from Malenadu belt who never had faith in any saints came to Gurunatha once. He was not selected in the campus interviews by any of the visiting companies though he had studied well. Gurunatha asked him to wear either Yellow or Red or Green colored shirt for the interview. Though he followed Gurunatha’s instructions about his dress, he was not very confident of his own answers for the interview questions. Surprisingly, he was selected and even went on to assume a higher role and responsibility in Delhi. He started respecting the concept of ‘Guru’ and became a devotee of Gurunatha.

Once a devotee and his friends were walking along a road as he saw Gurunatha at a distance. He forced all his friends to meet Gurunatha. Some of them were avid cricket followers and a cricket match was going on. On meeting them, Gurunatha looked at one of them and said.. “ hey.. Sachin’s wicket is down”. It had really happened right at that moment. Gurunatha later told the devotee if he comes in a group he will never get Guru and sent them back.

Later that devotee came to Gurunatha’s residence and complained about unemployment. Gurunatha told him that in the next 13 days he will get a job. As he had been told on the 13th day he started a hotel business with one of his relatives and the business started doing well.
