Chapter 27: Compassion
Not stopping at this, I requested
her to share a few more of these experiences. She readily agreed and said, ”My
master has been so compassionate towards us, we have had so many experiences to
prove that..”, with these words she started recounting another experience.
This was probably around 2003; my
husband had to go to Paris on business. We were busy preparing for that, we
were regretting not being able to inform Gurunatha about this visit. Just then,
I got the news that Gurunatha was visiting a devotee in our neighborhood. I
went there and informed him of my husband’s visit. On hearing that, Gurunatha
joked, I should also join him on his trip and gave some areca, turmeric and kumkum(vermillion)
wrapped in a cloth and asked me to put it in my husband’s hand baggage, which I
promptly did.
My husband on his journey stayed in
Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai and reached airport. About half an hour from the time
he left, that hotel was stormed by terrorists and there were huge explosions
which resulted in many people losing their lives. Our Guru’s compassion had
saved us on that day. With these words she turned silent
for some time.
A little later, she started again,
“In our office, our promotion issue had got into a legal tangle and as a result
of that no promotions were given for about 5-6 years. One afternoon, Gurunatha
gave some areca and turmeric and kumum packets and asked them to be distributed
among my collegues. Also, he had given a hint about my promotion. Within six
months of that I got my promotion.
