Chapter 67 : Three weddings
Gurunatha was adept at fixing time
for auspicious functions. Without looking at any calendars (almanac), birth
charts suggesting dates for his devotee was his specialty.
A devotee originally from Sakharaya
Patna but residing in Bangalore had wanted to construct a house. Knowing this
one fine day Gurunatha along with his sister went to this devotee’s rented
house in Bangalore, took him along to the construction site. Gurunatha got his
sister to perform the necessary puja to start construction. This happened on
the new moon day which is actually considered inauspicious to start anything.
The devotee has since moved in to the new house and is leading a peaceful and
happy life there.
Once Gurunatha had found an alliance
and fixed the marriage date for a devotee’s sister in Banavara. The marriage
was to take place in Bangalore. He arranged for another marriage on the same
day at 4.30 am for the son of a Bangalore based devotee and the bride was from
Sagara. Gurunatha was personally present at these
marriages. While there he got two
families who had come for the above marriage to talk to each other and strike an
alliance. Not stopping at that he made sure the marriage took place around 6.30
am on the same day in his sister’s house!
He started immediately to Sakharaya
Patna from there and was seen resting in his house in Sakharaya Patna at noon
as if it was any other normal day. Only an all capable force can achieve such a
feat isn’t it?
Gurunatha had a great respect for
the famous advaitha peetha. Likewise, the seer on that throne was also equally
affectionate towards Gurunatha. Gurunatha had got the peetha’s name written on
his own house and was heard repeatedly saying “Everything that was his,
belonged to the peetha”.
Every year it had become a practice
for the seer to come and stay with Gurunatha for a day or two. Probably during
his second visit, suddenly thick clouds gathered around and it started raining.
One of the seer’s followers came to Gurunatha and asked him, “It would be a
problem for the function if it rains isn’t it?” Gurunatha smiled at him and
asked “would you stop the rain?” Having said that, he asked me to get a
coconut, touched it and giving it back to me asked me to roll it down the
street. I did as instructed. Within a few minutes, the clouds disappeared and
it was clear blue sky again. Everyone gathered there was amazed at what had
happened.
Gurunatha always used to say
“Everything should be his(God’s) and he should be yours. Nothing should happen
as per your wish, everything should happen according to his wish, only then the
man will not lose his senses”
