Chapter 108 : Water..Water
' Once Gurunatha and a few of his
devotees were on their way to Sringeri in a car, half way through the journey
Gurunatha asked his car to be stopped, got down along with some devotees and
sent the others towards Sringeri. Gurunatha said “I am very tired; I need to
rest for some time”. He just lay down by the roadside. After some time he got
up and asked for some water. The devotees who stayed with him were not carrying
water, so one of them took a bottle and set out on foot to fetch water. As luck
would have it he could not find water anywhere nearby and returned empty
handed. Just then a goods carrier carrying water bottles drove by and stopped
very near to them. A person got down from it and ran towards Gurunatha and
bowed at his feet and saying, “Sir, it must be one of my luckiest days, I am
seeing you.” Gurunatha asked him “who are you?”
He replied, “Sir, I had come to seek
your blessing about ten years back. Those were the most difficult days of my
life. No matter what I tried it used to fail. Financial and other troubles had
made my life miserable”.
“After hearing me out, you had given
me a glass of water that you were drinking and had blessed me to start a
drinking water business. I started the business of bottled water as per your
instructions; in due course the business flourished and went on to become a
reputable brand in the state. Today if I am leading a comfortable life it is
all because of your grace” he said with moist eyes.
A little later he was seen running
back to his vehicle and coming back with a tray of water bottles. He said.. ”today
I want to offer you something but as this was a chance meeting I am not
carrying anything, so will you kindly accept this water from me?” Once he had
left, the devotees staying with Gurunatha were left to ponder over as to was it
yet another experience their master had shown them.
