Chapter 111 : Eternal Love

Sadguru derives great pleasure in relieving his devotee’s pain and suffering. It is even
more so with our Gurunatha. He almost spent his entire life caring for his devotees.

A devotee working in a private telecom company once quit his job due to some unavoidable circumstances. The company had a practice of keeping a security deposit of a few thousand rupees from each employee before he joined, which was returned when the employee left the company on good terms. Likewise, this devotee got his deposit back. But, a few days later he received his deposit amount for the second time due to company’s mistake.

Though he was in very bad financial state, Guru’s words kept reminding him that he should not use a thing or money belonging to someone else. With that money he walked into Gurunatha’s house and explained him about the situation.

Gurunatha thought for a while and told him, ”Since the company has sent the money for a second time without you asking it probably looks like it has been sent to relieve you of current situation, there is nothing wrong in using it”. To respect Gurunatha’s words the devotee kept the money as a deposit, hoping he would never have to use it.

Such was their devotion that, before doing anything (good or bad) Gurunatha’s devotees would always consult him.

Once his father came to Gurunatha’s residence for darshana, after some time as he was close to Guruantha, he asked one question to Gurunatha. “Sir, people say our house is frequented by evil spirits, is that true?” Gurunatha did not give him a direct answer and scolded him. His scolding continued throughout the day. Devotee’s father was confused if he had asked a wrong question or had done something else that made Gurunatha angry.

Later, when Gurunatha was alone with that devotee he recalled the incident and told him, “ that day the question your father asked was a correct one. But, I have put in a lot of effort to bring your family on this path, Had I told him ‘Yes’ you would have left this path and gone along the lines of astrology, tantriks which would have been a waste of your time and money. For that reason I scolded him.”

This incident shows the love and care behind Gurunatha’s scolding, I am sure most of his devotees would know this too well.
