Chapter 12 :  A boon for my sister

This must have been around the winter of 2002, l was preparing for my main exams. I got to know that Gurunatha was at Kudli math branch in Bangalore. I went there with my application forms to seek his blessings.

Gurunatha was sitting at the entrance along with a doctor who has now settled abroad. After giving his blessings he said “Do not take up police job, go into revenue services, you will succeed.” After finishing my main exam I came to hear that Gurunatha is at the house of a devotee near Mattikere in Bangalore. I called him up.

After enquiring about the exams he fondly asked ‘Would you not come and meet me?’ The very next moment he said “you stay where you are, I shall come and meet you.” I was taken aback by his flip-flop at that moment. Only when I hung up, I realized I neither had the money nor the transport to reach where he was staying; it was evident that he sensed it even before I could think of it.

Next morning (19-10-2002) we were asked to visit a devotee’s house close to where my sister was staying in Banashankari. Kudli math seer was visiting that house and we were to get his darshana and seek his blessings. We were at that house and just when the seer was about to leave Gurunatha joined us along with a few of his disciples.

My brother-in-law was a ‘jack of many trades’ though adept at many professions as luck would have it he could not make much monetary gains from any of them. My sister after surviving many hardships was determined to stay in Bangalore and was fighting hard to make ends meet. My brother-in-law had decided to try Ginger coffee (Khashaya) business as his last endeavor but the sales were dull.

Coincidently, Gurunatha visited my sister’s house which was across the street along with a few of his devotees. He was there for about two hours talking to many people. He saw my question paper and told me exactly how many marks I will be getting and had Khashaya my sister had prepared along with his disciples and started from there, I followed them. Khashaya powder which was hard to sell a few days ago started selling like hot cakes. Within a short time my brother in law constructed a small house for himself. The business is doing well even today. I could not have had a better illustration to realize “lf Guru is on your side anything is possible”.

Around the same time one boy, a distant relative of Gurunatha was meritorious in studies as well as carnatic vocal music. One day Gurunatha told him “You focus on your music, I will study for your engineering degree.“ The boy had food at his residence and left. He enrolled under a famous singer and started his musical journey. He was totally engrossed in his musical quest and his interest in engineering and attendance at college seemed to suffer. To everyone’s surprise he secured more than 75% in his engineering exams while he stood 4^th in his carnatic music exam for the whole state. Today he is considered among many accomplished musicians in the state. He still leads a humble, simple life has made good strides in the path shown by Guru.

This shows a Guru can bestow a lot of things upon you by his mere glance without speaking a word.
